Additional Information provided by Michael Ransom 2 September, 2020: "land for a Catholic Church to be built at Upper Copmanhurst had been donated by George Lollback. John Corcoran, who was 20 years old, carted the bricks from the wharf at Copmanhurst to the site by horse and dray. It was the first brick building at Copmanhurst and was largely built by voluntary labour. The foundation stone was laid on 21 June 1881 and the church, named 'St John of the Cross', was officially opened and consecrated by Bishop Torreggiana on 22 October 1882. Today it is the oldest brick church still in continuous use in the Lismore Diocese"
