The former St Thomas Anglican Church, Ellalong is now closed, and the property was sold in May 2015.
In 1861 the local community began seeking to establish a place of worship in Ellalong. Early services were held in the home of Mr Samuel Cadman and the Millfield School. The first church building was in the Ellalong Cemetery, and also served as a school, it dates from about February 1864. The present church building was opened on 18/12/1873. The first wedding appears to have have been held in June 1879 and the last one on 1 November 2008 (Barry Wilson and Joanne Smith - researcher). The church was deconsecrated on 28/9/2014, attended by the Bishop of Newcastle, Rt Rev Greg Thompsom. More historical information/photographs on the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 23/11/2020.
