Cookamidgera Uniting Church - Former

The former Cookamidgera Uniting Church held its final service on 27/11/2022, and the property is now listed for sale. The congregation subsequently joined the Parkes Uniting Church congregation. The Cookamidgera church had been part of the Presbytery of Macquarie Darling and the Uniting Church Synod of NSW & ACT. Prior to the first church building being erected, services were held in an open shed and later in the home of Mr T Haynes. The first church building, a wooden structure, was erected/opened in 1900 for the Methodist Church. It was replaced when the present church building was opened on 12/2/1930, by the Rev W B Roden. This building was also used for a period by the Anglican Church, while their building was being erected.. A Sunday School began at the same time as the church, with a new Sunday School Hall opened on 27/2/1966, to cater for the number of children¹. The church celebrated the 50th anniversary of the church building and its 82 year history on 10/2/1980. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited.
