The Belvoir Street Baptist Church, Surry Hills was opened on 14/6/1913. It replaced an earlier building erected for The Particular Baptists in Castlereagh Street, near Liverpool Street in 1863. This building had been sold to Mark Foys to make way for the continued commercial development of Sydney. The congregation had started about 1861 under the leadership of Pastor John Bunyan McClure. The last action in the original building was a jubilee celebration. The present church is now listed in the Baptist Churches of NSW & ACT. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 8/2/2021.
