Danish Church

The Danish Church in Australia, Pennant Hills was formerly created in 2004, with the merger of the Danish Church abroad and the Danish Seamen's Church in foreign harbours. The Danish Church in Australia had its beginnings in Queensland from about 1874, although the first church in Brisbane closed in 1923/24, due to financial constraints. In 1940 the church moved to Sydney where a greater number of Danish immigrants continued to arrive. Services were held in the Norwegian Seaman's Church until it closed in 1978. Services were then held in various locations until it acquired its present property in August 2002. [The former Hillcrest Road, Uniting Church property].
