The former St Peter's Uniting Church, Parramatta (formally Parramatta Congregational Church), is now closed, and the property was sold in 2006. It name was changed some time after it joined the Uniting Church in Australia, in 1977.
St Peter's was founded in 1870, although missionaries for many years before had held services in the district. Dedicated effort to start a local Congregational church was begun in earnest in May 1870, by the Rev T S Forsaith, who held meetings in the School of Arts. Land was purchased on 30/1/1871, the foundation stone was laid on 24/5/1871 and the church was opened on 19/5/1872.1
The church building was also used by the Chinese Evangelical Church about 1996.
More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 26/12/2020 & 25/1/2023.
