The Sts Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Newtown is in the Parish of Newtown and part of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. The church acquired the property from the Uniting Church. The building was initially erected for the Newtown Congregational Church. The earliest Congregational services were held in the home of Mr Phillip's of Newton, by the Rev Charterrs in 1855. The first portion of the building, erected on land donated by the Fairfax's,  was completed and opened on 19/11/1856, by Dr Ross. Due to the rapidly increasing size of the congregation, additions were added to the building within a short period of time, including the addition of a gallery. Sunday School buildings and many other improvements were carried out over the years 1. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation(s) are invited. Photographs uploaded 22/11/2020 and 25/8/2022.
