The foundation stone for the first church building was laid on 25/9/1880 by Mrs J T Bryant. 

The foundation stone for church extensions was laid on Good Friday (11/4) 1884 by Principal Fletcher, President of the Conference.

The foundation stone for the church hall was laid on 22/10/1893 by Mrs F Colwell.

The foundtaion stone for 'Gateway' the Childrens Home next door was laid on 16/4/1964.

The former Lewisham Uniting Church is now closed, and the property used by one the Uniting Church's welfare agencies. The original Wesleyan Methodist Church began in private homes, with the first church building opened on 12/12/1880. Over the years many additions and alterations were made to the original church building. On 12/10/1980 the church celebrated its centenary. For more of the church story see note below.
