The Parkes Uniting Church is part of the Presbytery of Macquarie Darling and the Uniting Church Synod of NSW & ACT. Until 19/6/2022 the Parkes church had two separate congregations meeting in the same building - the Parkes congregation and the Currajong/Cookamidgera congregation, a multi centred congregation that met in this church and also at the Cookamidgera Church. On 19/6/2022 the Currajong congregation held its last service, subsequently joining the Parkes congregation. The Cookamidgera (see separate entry - 2870 )congregation held its final service on 27/11/2022 and subsequently also joined the Parkes congregation. The present Parkes church building was opened 'on Sunday June 11th by the President of Conference, the Rev J Woolnough'[date not clear as 11/6/1897 was not a Sunday as recorded? -page 2]. It replaced the earlier wooden structure which had been opened on 14/6/1881, and became the church hall, located beside the new church building. It was removed in 1912, when the present Sunday School Hall was erected. The church celebrated its centenary in 1997. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 11/4/2020.
