(The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW: 1842~1954) Mon 25 Jan 1904, p8.) "METHODIST MISSION HALL. OPENING OF NEW BUILDING. INAUGURATION OF THE MISSION. The Methodist Mission Hall in King Street, the foundation stone of which was laid by his Excellency Sir Harry Rawson in November 1902 has just been completed, and with it the inauguration of what is now known as the Newcastle Central Methodist Mission, took place to-day, in the form of a public dedicatory service, which was held in the new hall this morning, the service being conducted by the Rev Gainsford Bavin, President of the Conference, to whose untiring energy the success of the mission is due..."
