(Sydney Morning Herald - 3 August 1857)  "We have just learnt that the Bishop of Sydney arrived at M'Grath's Hill yesterday morning, on his way to Richmond, with the Intention of attending a meeting of the Church Society there, but encountering the flood, was obliged to retrace his steps to Retallack's Inn, Windsor Road. His Lordship also Intended to lay the foundation of a new church at Pitt Town, but the unpropitiousness of the elements will prevent that event from taking place for a time. The waters have fallen about six feet."
