A heritage plaque records: St Andrew Catholic Church - This church was built for the Catholic families, many being highland Scots emigrating to this area. - These families were mainly McDonalds. - The church is the first Catholic church built in the Monaro circa 1856. - It is built of basalt stone with a shingle roof. - The church was extended in 1918. - Galvanised iron was used on the roof - The extended entrance was made of hand made bricks. - The stained glass windows were donated by many Catholic Families in the dstrict. - In 1960 the cottage next to the church was built as a residence for the visiting priest. [The St Josephs Convent was buit in 1902 and the St Josephs School in 1907].
