The Maria Regina Catholic Church, Avalon Beach is part of the Pittwater Parish and of the Diocese of Broken Bay. A two storey church building was opened in January 1956, with a church on the top floor and a school underneath. This was achieved about three years before the parish was formed on 1/2/1959. The first Parish Priest was Fr Hugh Boland. The present church building was blessed and dedicated on 25/8/1974. The parish also purchased land in Bilgola Plateau and established the Holy Family Church as a Mass Centre in 1966. It was blessed by Cardinal Gilroy in 1970. It operated as a Mass Centre for about twenty years, and now functions under lease as a Child Care Centre. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 27/6/2020.
