A foundation stone for some additions was laid by the Bishop of Sydney, Rev Frederic Barker on 24/10/1874.

Comments

The St John the Baptist Anglican Church, Ashfield was licensed on 1/10/1843 and consecrated on 19/8/1845. It has been extended and improved over the years. It was built on land donated by Elizabeth Underwood. A cemetery adjoins the church and was the first Anglican cemetery between Sydney and Parramatta.
