The St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Hall is part of the Hope Ginninderra Parish (with St Barnabas, Charnwood) and part of the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. The earliest church building in the district was the former St Paul's, Ginninderra. In 1841 two hundred acres of land was given to the church by Mr Charles Campbell, with one acre for the church building, two acres for a cemetery, and the balance for a glebe. However, it was not until 12/5/1861 that St Paul's was opened. The walls were partly slab and weatherboard, partly lath and plaster, with a shingle roof. It was for a number of years also used as a school. By the early 1880s Ginninderra had lost its commercial power to the village of Hall, and the church/congregation declined from this time. It was not used after about 1900, and in 1904 suffered damage from a storm. It was not repaired and over time disappeared. The final service for the Anglicans in the area was held in the Parkwood Methodist Church in 1906. Until the St Michael and All Angels Anglican Church building was opened on 22/5/1948 there was no Anglican church for the Ginninderra community closer than Jeir or St John's, Reid. Although the old Farmers's Union Hall at Ginninderra was used, by the remaining Anglicans, for several years. The St Paul's parish was re-established in 1973, with the congregation meeting in the local schools, until this ended in 2024. In 2025 the parish amalgamated to form the Hope Ginninderra Parish. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 19/11/2025
