The O'Connor Uniting Church, is part of the Canberra Region Presbytery and the Uniting Church Synod of NSW & ACT. The church began in 1953 as a church plant of the Reid Methodist Church, first meetings being held in a private home and then in a church hall. By the early 1960s the hall was too small, and in April 1966 a new church building was opened. The church became part of the Uniting Church in 1977, and by the late 1970s was known as a 'leading charismatic church'. An increase in the size of the congregation led to its worship services being relocated to the Lyneham High School hall. In 1990 the church services were moved to Merici College, Braddon. Over many years there had been many difficulties between the church and Presbytery, with some taking the view that they should leave the Uniting Church, and join Grace Christian Mnistries. About this time, March 1994, the dissenting group (ie those wishing to remain in the UC), began again to hold their services in the church building. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 15/11/2025.
