The St Michael's Catholic Church, Kaleen is part of the North Belconnen/Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish (with St Monica's, Evatt) and part of the Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn. The St Michael's parish was founded on 7/11/1976, with the celebration of the first Mass in the garden of the then presbytery in Powlett Street. Archbishop Cahill was the principal celebrant and introduced the first parish priest, Fr Hilton Roberts. The present parish was created in 2018 from an amalgamation of the two former parishes of St Monica's, 1974 and St Michael's, 1976. In the early days of St Michael's, Mass was celebrated in the living room of the presbytery. As the congregation grew, Sunday Mass were celebrated at Kaleen Primary School and from February 1982 in the parish school hall. The church building and the new presbytery were completed in 1990, with the church being dedicated on 8/12/19901. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 20/11/2025.
