The St Margaret's Uniting Church, Hackett is in the Canberra Region Presbytery of the Uniting Church Synod of NSW & ACT. The church began in 1964 as a shared congregation of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches in the new North Canberra suburbs, including Hackett, meeting in local primary schools. St Margaret's Uniting Church (former Presbyterian) together with Holy Cross Anglican Church (see separate entry - 2602) for more than sixty years has worked in co-operative partnership, sharing buildings and holding regular joint services. The sharing arrangement began when both the Anglicans and Presbyterians had been allocated sites in Hackett, to build separate churches. Instead of developing separate buildings it was agreed to develop one site, at which both could worship and share. The joint Holy Cross Anglican Church and Parish Centre of St Margaret's was opened and dedicated on 16/12/1967. St Margaret's became part of the Uniting Church in 1977. Both the Anglican and Uniting churches have maintained separate and combined ministry activities, and each have outreach programs. More historical informaton/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 3/11/2025
