The St Peter's Memorial Lutheran Church, is part of the Canberra-Queanbeyan Luthern Parish and part of the Lutheran NSW and ACT District of the Lutheran Church of Australia. The church had its beginnings in 1949, when many migrants arrived in Canberra from Latvia, Estonia, Finland and other parts of Europe. The migrants were Lutherans. Regular services began in the Y M C A in Civic Centre, in Latvian, Estonian and German .The Latvians and Estonians soon formed their own congregation, and years later the Finns followed suit. On 21/5/1955, St Peter's Evangelical Congregation was officially founded. With incereasing members the need for a permanent building grow, with the present building being dedicated on 10/9/1961 [Sourced from: https://canberra-queanbeyan-parish.lutheran.org.au/saint-peters-memorial/].
