The Immanuel Woden Valley Lutheran Church, Lyons is part of the NSW & ACT District of the Lutheran Church of Australia. Plans for a church began in the early 1960s, when the Woden Valley district was still undeveloped. In 1966 as people moved into the newly built suburbs of Hughes and Curtin, a Lutheran Sunday school began meeting in the South Curtin School. In 1967, regular evening worship services started in the Chifley Primary School. Land was acquired, and a hall with offices and a kitchen was built and opened on 18/8/1968. A church manse was opened and dedicated on 16/4/1972. The congregation flourished and a church building was opened and dedicated by the NSW District President on 29/5/1977 [Sourced from: https://woden.lutheran.org.au/about-us/]. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 10/10/2025.
