St Simon's Anglican Church

The St Simon's Anglican Church, Kaleen is part of the Parish of Kaleen-Giralang-Lawson in the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. The church had its beginnings when a service was held on 7/3/1976, in the rectory at Giralang. To meet the needs of the growing congregation, a number of venues for activities were used until 1978, when the congregation moved to the Kaleen High School. This facility was used until the first stage of its church buildiing was opened and held its Christmas Eve in 1988. Since its modest beginnings in 1976, the congregation has been actively involved in developing many ministries, including carrying out much of the building, fit out, furnishings, and landscaping for the building. The second stage of the church building was officially opened in March 1992, by Bishop Owen Dowling. The church building was consecrated in 2009, by the Right Rev Len Eacott, Anglican Bishop to the Defence Force. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited.
