A similar stone was also laid on the same day by the Rev Dr W E Sangster (General Conference Cato Lecturer). Above the stones is a tablet recording: Built upon the foundation - of the - Apostles and Prophets - Jesus Christ - Himself - being - the Chief Corner Stone. |

The Wesley Uniting Church, Forrest is part of the Canberra Region Presbytery of the Uniting Church Synod of NSW & ACT. The church building was erected for the Methodist General Conference of Australasia, as a memorial to the work and witness of the pioneer Methodist people of Australia. It was opened and dedicated on 19/11/1955, by the President-General of the Methodist General Conference, the Rev Dr R B Lew. The church became part of the Uniting Church in 1977. An early Methodist church building in the Canberra region was a small wooden slab building opened on 7/2/1869. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited.
