The St Paul's Anglican Church, Griffith is in the Parish of Manuka in the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. St Paul's was the first Anglican church built following the foundation of the National Capital, and the first Anglican Parish in South Canberra. The present church building was opened and dedicated on 6/8/1939, by the Bishop of Goulburn, the Right Rev E H Burgmann. The dedication of the extension and completed church building was held on the 18/11/1956, and conducted by Bishop Burgmann. The church building was consecrated on 16/11/1963 by Bishop K J Clements. This church building replaced the St Paul's mission hall, first erected in what is now Kingston, and which was for many years the centre of worship for the area. It was opened in 1914 as an outpost of St John's Reid. It was relocated and for many years stood to the south of St Paul's church where it was then used as a Sunday School hall. In 1985 the 'old tn shed', as it became known, was demolished and moved to Caloola Farm, south of Tharwa, to be used as a craft room and chapel1More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited.Photographs upoaded 2/10/2025.
