The Good Shepherd Anglican Church, Curtin is in the Parish of Curtin and part of the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. The first service in the area was held in the Hughes Primary School in 1964, acknowledging the establishment of many new families in the Woden Valley. This initiative was lead by the Rev Harold Palmer from St Luke's Deakin, the Rev Don Erikson (Presbyterian) and the Rev Barney Lynch (Catholic). With many new familes now residing in the district, religious instruction was soon being conducted in four primary and two high schools, together with the running of boys and girls societies. Church activities continued to expand, together with the erection and dedication of the Church of the Good Shepherd, and the adjoining St James Presbyterian, by Bishop Clements, on 25/9/1971. The church was consecrated in 1983. From 1964 the church had partnered with St James, but this arrangement was disolved on 1/1/2003. Over the years a number of clergy served the congregation, each bringing their own skills and ideas, which impacted the church and its ministries. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 15/10/2024.
