The St Edmund's Anglican Church, Tharwa is part of the Parish of South Tuggeranong (with St Mary in the Valley, Calwell - see separate entry - 2905) and the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. The Society of the Sacred Mission was instrumental in establishing this parish, which was declared by Bishop Owen Dowling on 6/5/1984. Since its early days, St Edmunds had been supplied with a priest from Queanbeyan, however, the establishment of the new parish made this arrangement an anomaly. The bishop transferred the care of St Edmund's to the new parish of South Tuggeranong, which was celebrated by Fr Lawrence Eyers, with Holy Communion on 24/3/1985. St Edmund's holds a regular monthly service. The church building was erected about 1908, and consecrated in 1919. It was built on land donated by Mr George McKeahnie the local station owner. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 25/10/2023 & 7/11/2025.
