The former Elbow Hill Methodist Church, Cowell closed a number of years ago, and the property was sold. Early Wesleyan Methodist services were held in a private home, but as this became too small, a church building was erected and opened on 29/1/1888. Within twenty years, as the centre of the population had shifted, it was proposed a new and larger church building, more centrally located, be erected to meet the needs of the congregation. This new building was opened on 26/1/1910 by the Rev W G Clarke , President of the Methodist Conference. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 1/11/2021.
