The Hillsong Church, Wollongong began in February 2017, originally meeting in commercial and community centres in the Wollongong city centre, including the Sage Hotel and The Builders Club, before acquiring the current site in 2023, previously owned by the Lutheran Church (see separate entry - LifeWay Lutheran Church - 2500). The Hillsong Church began as Hills Christian Life Centre in Sydney, in 1983. Today it is an international, multi-campus church functioning in many global cities, in about 17 countries.
