A plaque records: Carisbrook - Methodist Church - C 1914 - The first Wesleyan church in Carisbrook was erected in 1851 at Harrison's Hill. It was blown down in 1861 and was replaced by a wooden church on this site. That building was blown down and replaced by the current church in c. 1914. It is a fine example of a simple Gothic revival brick building. A timber Sunday School Hall was moved here from Alma in 1877. This was blown down in 1937 and replaced by the current brick building.
