The Wesley Uniting Church, Melbourne is part of the Yarra Yarra Presbytery in the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. The first worship service in the new colony was held in 1835, and was conducted by Henry Reed, a businesman and  layman. A small chapel was built about 1838 at the cnr of Swanston St & Flinders Ln. It soon became too small and a larger one was opened at cnr Collins St & Queen St in June 1841. The present church building was opened for worship on 26/8/1858. Today Wesley is the home of two Uniting Church congregations, the English-speaking Wesley Church and the Chinese-speaking Gospel Hall. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photograph uploaded 26/10/2021 & 16/9/2026.
