The Austinmer Uniting Church (also known as The Chapel on Moore Street) has now merged (2026) with the Northern Illawarra Uniting Church and now functions as part of that church. The church is part of the Illawarra Presbytery of the Uniting Church Synod of NSW & ACT. Due to a delay in the opening of the church building, services began in September, 1921 in the Austinmer Surf Club. The church building was opened on 7/1/1922 for the Methodist Church, which became part of the Uniting Church in 1977. Land for a church building had been donated on 12/1/1907, by Margaret Kennedy, on the condition that a church building would be completed by the 1st of April next. As this did not happen the land was transferred to Claudia Slade. The present site for the church building was eventually bought on 30/11/1916.  A Sunday School Hall was opened on 3/12/1955 and a Youth Hall on 12/12/1966. The church building was extensively repaired and alterations carried out in 1961. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 8/7/2026.
