The Bolwarra Uniting Church is part of the Hunter Presbytery of the Uniting Church Synod of NSW & ACT. The first Wesleyan Church building, a wooden structure, was opened in 1846 in Flat Road, near the Hunter River. When it became too small a brick structure was erected on the same site in 1878. It remained the congregations meeting place for the next 77 years. In 1955, after the Hunter River bank realignment made it vulnerable to flooding, the present church building, was opened at the current site on 19/4/1958. In 1978 a church hall was erected, and further additions and improvements have been carried out since. In 1900 the Wesleyan Methodist Church became part of the Methodist Church, which became part of the Uniting Church in 1977 [Sourced from: https://bolwarra.uca.org.au/history/].
