Street Noticeboard records: Conargo's Presbyterian Church was built in 1914 on land provided by Mr Percy Landale of Quiamong. - Described as a very neat weatherboard structure, Denilquin's Independant and Pastoral Times newspaper reported: "All the local landowners around Conargo donated handsomely to the building viz Mr Percy Landale £50; Messrs Otway and Leigh Falkiner Snr, £50 each; Mrs Falkiner Snr £30; Mr Shaw (Puckawidgee) £25. Donations were also contributed by Messrs Ralf Falkiner, J.H. Patterson Jnr. (Hartwood), and Mrs McBean, while Mrs Percy Landale presented a dozen chairs. - The church is not fully equipped yet, as more chairs are to be obtained, also a reading desk. The residents of Conargo are presenting the desk, and Mr Otway Falkiner is donating books, A new Estay organ has already been purchased." - A large congregation of over 50 people attended the first service held on Sunday morning 21 June 1914. According to a report in the Tocumwal Guardian, the congregation was 'much pleased' with the service. Reverend William Tulloch of St Andrews Presbyterian Church, Deniliquin performed the opening ceremony. Miss Hopkins played the Estay organ, and Miss Stewart sang Nearer My God to Thee. - In later years, a Sunday School room was added at the rear of the church. For over 50 years, Mrs Jean Pottinger - who lived next door- regularly cleaned the church. - Although rarely used, the quaint little church is not forgotten. It still hosts occasional weddings, christenings, naming cermonies, and celbrations of life. |

The former Conargo Presbyterian Church has now closed and the property has been sold (2017?). Now believed to be owned by the local Council. Although regular services are no longer held in the building, it is still occasionally used for weddings, christenings, naming ceremonies and celebrations of life. The building was erected for the Presbyterian Church and opened on 21/6/1914 by the Rev William Tulloch from the St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Deniliquin. A baptismal font was located in front yard, but no markings were found on it. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 6/4/2026.
