Comments

The Greek Orthodox Cathedral of St Sophia, Paddington was opened on 18/9/1927, and consecrated in 1928. It was the first Greek Orthodox Cathedral built in Australia following the great social and political schism within the Greek-Australian Orthodox community in 1924, but the second place dedicated for Greek Orthodox worship after the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, erected in Surry Hills in 1898. After being closed for a considerable time to allow for major renovations, the Cathedral re-opened on 27/9/2020. More historical information/photographs of the cathedral/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 11/12/2020.
