The original St John's Lutheran Church, Kirchheim was a weatherboard building erected in 1875, but was destroyed by a storm in 1889. A new church building was dedicated before the year was out, complete with chancel, organ gallery and bell spire. This church building was shifted to Minyip in 1935. It took two and a half days. The load was estimated at 50 tons and was hauled by steam engine and winched where the going was heavy. (see separate entry - 3392). More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation at its original location in Kirchheim are invited. Photographs uploaded 4/1/2021.

The photographs are of the church in its original location at Kirchheim. Address in Kirchheim is not known. The information and photographs were kindly provided by Rob Rurade.
