In 1913 Pastor Edwin Graebner came to Sydney to minister to English-speaking Lutherans, and in 1915 St Paul's was formally established as a congregation. A German-speaking congregation had been formed in the city about 1866.
It was not until the late 1950s that the English-speaking congregation was able to purchase the Stanley Street property and erect their own church building. St Paul's Lutheran Peace Memorial Church was dedicated on 30/7/1961, in the presence of the Governor of NSW, Sir Eric Woodward.1
More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photograph uploaded 22/8/2020.
