The former Malvern East Congregational Church closed about 1977, and the property is now privately owned. In 1890 the Congregational Church was established in East Malvern. The first church building was a wooden structure, erected in Kilpatrick's paddock on Waverley Road. A portion of the present site in Burke Road was purchased in 1905, and the building was relocated to it in 1906. The present church building was dedicated on 2/9/1916 by the Rev A Depledge Sykes of the Collins Street Church, with the Wharington Hall erected in 1928. On 2/7/1950 the church celebrated its diamond jubilee with a series of thanksgiving services. One of the windows is now a feature of the East window of the Ewing Memorial Church. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 20/11/2022.
