The former Yarrawonga Church of Christ held its final service on 26/11/2017, the property was sold in 2020, and the buildings subsequently demolished. 'Two farming families, the Cowpers at Lake Rowan and the Chappells at Telford as well as the Sharp family from Wilby, all with Church of Christ affiliations, had long been holding meetings in their homes. They decided to join up and make Yarrawonga their centre of activity. A church building was commenced at 11 Orr Street and to launch the work, a tent crusade was held over a six week period beginning on 22 July 1925 with the noted evangelist Mr EC Henricksen and Mr C Pratt as song leader. Some 63 converts were recorded. The Church held its first service on 13 September 1925 with 80 members. Mr C Pratt, the song leader during the crusade became the first minister from 1925 to 1929. A newly-built Sunday School hall was opened across the Murray River in Mulwala to serve the children of that town. A manse was built in 1959 and a large hall was added at the rear of the Church building in 1963. [Source:- Lindsay Nothrop family documents]. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 29/10/2023.
