Sacred Heart Catholic Church

The Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Wallerawang is part of the Parish of Lithgow and the Diocese of Bathurst. The present church building was opened in September 1964 by Bishop Thomas. It replaced an earlier 1880s weatherboard building, moved from Lidsdale to the present site, and re-opened and blessed by Fr Doherty, in April 1921.  A Catholic community has been worshipping in the district from about 1874, meeting in various locations, until the Lidsdale church building had been erected in the 1880s. The church celebrated the 50th anniversary of the opening of its present building in September 2014.
