The former Holy Family Catholic Church, Merewether closed  in 2009, and is now part of the Holy Family Primary School. The church had been part of the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The present church building was erected/opened in 1951. It replaced the earlier wooden church building on the same site, beside the present building, which became part of the school.
