St Joseph's Catholic Church, Narrabeen is part of The Lakes Catholic Parish and the Diocese of Broken Bay. The original church building, a timber structure, was founded in Careel Bay by Father John Therry, and was physically moved to the Narrabeen site in 1917, where it remained as the church/hall till 1939. The first St Joseph's church/school erected at Narrabeen was opened by His Grace, Most Rev Norman T Gilroy, Archbishop of Sydney on 22/1/1939. The present church building was opened on 6/8/1972 by Cardinal James Freeman. It was dedicated as a War Memorial Church [Sourced from: https://sites.google.com/a/lakesparish.org.au/history/parish-history/our-churches/st-joseph-s-church].
