The former Dungeree Catholic Church building is now privately owned. Before the erection of the church building, regular Mass was believed to have been celebrated in the Ryan's private home/hotel from about 1896. The first Mass was celebrated in the church building on 27/1/1906 by Father Lawler. After further interior work the building was consecrated on 24/2/1912 by Bishop Dunne. It closed some time after the opening of the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lue (see separate entry).
The church building was later relocated to Redbank (South Mudgee). On 5/7/1936 the first Mass was celebrated in the building at the new site, where it was given the name, St Martin in the Fields Catholic Church. The building was sold again in 1973 to the Mudgee Full Gospel Fellowship and was used as a church until 1996, when it was acquired by the Mudgee Historical Society. It was then relocated to their site in Market Street, Mudgee. In 2006 the centenary of the Dungeree Catholic Church were celebrated.
