A plaque records: A Historic Note - The original church stood next door at - 36 Ruby Street, this building served as - church and school when the old church was demolished. - Saint Francis School was run by the - Sisters of Saint Joseph unitil it was - closed on the 16th of December 1965.

A plaque records: On the occasion of its - Diamond Jubilee - (28 September 1952 ~ 28 September 2012) - the - Saint Francis of Assisi Church - Tingha - acknowledges with prayerful gratitude - all the Clergy, Religious, and Laity - who served and worshipped in this church. - This plaque was unveiled by - His Lordship - Michael Robert Kennedy, DD - Bishop of Armidale - on the 3rd of September 2012.

The St Francis Catholic Church, Tingha is part of the Parish of Inverell and the Diocese of Armidale. The present church building was erected in 1952, and replaced an earlier 1880s building on the same site. No other details are known.
