The Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Kapunda is part of the St Mary of the Cross MacKillop/Northern Light Parish, (with St Vincent de Paul, Port Wakefield; St Andrew's, Balaklava: St Benedict's, Freeling; Our Lady of the Nativity, Hamley Bridge; St Malachy's, Mallala and Sts John & Paul, Tarlee) in the Archdiocese of Adelaide. The present church building was built in 1938, replacing an earlier structure opened for worship on 8/2/1863. Significant additions, including nave and a bell tower were added to the 1863 building and dedicated on 18/2/1866. This 1863 St Rose and 1854 St John's church buildings were demolished in 1946. (see St John's in separate entry - 5373). The Sr Rose's Parish Hall was opened on 28/2/1909. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited.
