The St Stephen's Anglican Church, Penguin is in the Parish of Penguin and the Diocese of Tasmania. The first church building was opened on 7/5/1874, on a site donated by Mr Alexander Clerke. It soon became too small and in 1895 the building was significantly enlarged by cutting the original building in two and essentially adding a new middle section ie a new nave was built and the old building became the chancel and vestry.  It was re-opened on 19/1/1896.
