St Stephen's Anglican Church

The St Stephen's Anglican Church, Wynyard is in the Parish of Wynyard and the Diocese of Tasmania. The first church building was a small wooden structure, opened about 1855, some five years after the first Anglican service was held in the district. It was replaced by a new wooden building, which included a spire and stained glass windows, opened on 25/12/1873. The present brick church building, was opened on 2/12/1920, by the Bishop of Tasmania, the Right Rev R S Hay. Funding for this building was supported by a bequest of 1,000 pounds, from the Estate of a Mr Edward Stutterd. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited.
