St Thomas' Anglican Church

The St Thomas' Anglican Church, High Range is part of the Parish of Berrima cum Moss Vale and the Diocese of Sydney. Prior to the erection of the church building, services were held in private homes. The erection of the building by William Hunter was assisted by local volunteers and was erected on land donated by Edward Kell. The first service in the church building was held on 5/4/1891, and conducted by the Rev George Sheppard. The church closed in 1947 for lack of a congregation, but was re-opened after renovations on 13/6/1971 by Archdeacon Pit. In 1999 the church was once again closed but after the talk of a possibility of it being sold it was re-opened after 6 months¹. A small cemetery is located in the church grounds, and the ground was consecrated by the Right Rev William Smith, Archbishop of Sydney on 12/5/1893. No other details are known.
