The St Mark's Anglican Church, Tarcutta is part of the Parish of Tarcutta and the Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn. The present church building was erected as a memorial to Thomas Hodges Mate and Maria Mate, by Maria H Mate and her sister Annie Thompson, and known as 'The Mate Memorial Church'. It was consecrated on 15/11/1902. It is not clear if any other building was erected prior, as records indicated Anglican services were held in the Presbyterian Church in the 1890s. Anglican services appear to have been  held in the district from about the 1840s, supported by Mr Thoma Mate, who settled Tarcutta Station. Records also indicate that Bishop Broughton stayed at Mate's on 29/1/1850. More formal arrangements appear to have been made by 1859 when reference to Tarcutta is included in records of the Wagga Parish, although various other arrangements appear to have been made before it became a parish in its own right, on 1/3/19091. No other details are known. A cemetery adjoins the church. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 11/3/2022.
