Christ Church Anglican Church

The Christ Church Anglican Church, Brewarrina is part of the Parish of Bourke/Brewarrina in the Diocese of Bathurst. After the Parish of Brewarrina was established in 1875, the first rector was appointed in January 1876, the Rev W Witcombe. A land grant in 1874, was followed by the erection of a church building which was dedicated on 11/7/1879 by the Rev Canon Smith, and consecrated on 21/6/1903 by Bishop Camidge. Before the church building was erected, Bishop Marsden of Bathurst visited the town in 1876, with services held in 'the long zinc storeroom belonging to Mr Harris Cohen'.  The building was severely damaged on 28/1/1910 by a cyclone, but was subsequently repaired and  enlarged, the completed work being dedicated by Bishop Camidge on 24/7/1910.
