The first Anglican service in St Kilda was held in a private home, in what is now Fitzroy Street, on 23/12/1849. To accommodate a growing congregation, a wooden building was erected, followed shortly threafter by a brick structure which was used as a church/school. The present Christ Church, St Kilda was opened and dedicated on 2/8/1857 and consecrated on 19/1/1863. No other details are known.
