The former Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Nathalia has closed, with a de-consecration service held on 9/5/2026, conducted by the Rt Rev Clarence Bester, Bishop of Wangaratta. The church had been in the Parish of Nathalia and the Diocese of Wangaratta. The congregation has now become part of the Numurkah-Nathalia Parish, meeting in St George's , Numurkah. The church began about 1872, with the church building being erected in 1887, on land donated by Mr Edward Pearce. It was planned to open the church on 6/11/1887, but due to severe flooding the congregation could not reach the church. As a consequence the opening service was held in the nearby Humberstone's Hall (the local hotel). The first service in the church was held on 19/11/1887 with a large congregation. For an encouraging story of the church's beginnings see https://numurkahnathaliaanglicans.org/history/holy-trinity-nathalia/.
More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 13/2/2018.
